Diagnostic Services

Source BioScience Healthcare provides cutting edge reference laboratory testing for cancer and other diseases.

We have an unparalleled combination of expertise in histopathology and cytology and coupled with the latest molecular diagnostics, places us in a unique position to support the need for specialist diagnostic services.

We provide immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunocytochemistry (ICC) assays, in situ hybridisation (ISH), circulating tumour cell (CTC) enumeration, in addition to a broad portfolio of gene-based assays and mutation status testing; for example KRAS, which is provided free of charge to all NHS patients with our fast, simple and secure service.

We also offer Rapid™ HPV testing. This unique HPV testing service eliminates the complexity and expense of in-house testing with results typically returned within 24 hours of sample receipt.

Cellular Pathology Services

We provide a complete cellular pathology reporting service for pre-prepared slides, blocks or wet samples through our CPA accredited laboratories. Our service is highly regarded and utilises the expertise of our specialist consultant team, providing peace of mind for all specimens referred to us for investigation.

Cytology Services 

We provide cervical cancer screening for NHS Hospital Trusts and cytology laboratories in England and Wales. In 2012, approximately 2 million samples were analysed using the BD SurePath™ platform and we are currently the only provider of this automated cervical screening technology approved for use by the NHS. We are also working closely with the NHSCSP (NHS cervical screening programme) in the implementation of automated imaging for cervical slides. The BD FocalPoint™ technology reduces by up to 25% the number of tests which require primary manual screening, thereby speeding up the turnaround time for patients to receive their results.

We can also provide Duty of Care, Audit and MDT case review. All reviews are carried out in accordance with GMC and RCPath guidelines. This aspect of our business provides confidence in diagnosis and channels knowledge in to other pathology centres adding to the skill base and improving awareness of uncommon cases.
