Our Medical Director, Professor Ian Ellis has over 40 years experience in clinical and translational research in breast disease. Author of over 750 peer reviewed scientific publications, chapters in medical textbooks, and specialist textbooks in pathology and an experienced lecturer being a founder member of the faculty of the Nottingham Blamey International Breast Education Centre.

Professor Ian O.Ellis

Professor Ian Ellis has been involved in the practice of pathology for forty years and has an international reputation in clinical and translational research in breast disease, particularly classification and molecular pathology of breast cancer and evaluation of prognostic factors.

Professor William L Irving

Title: Professor and Honorary Consultant in Virology at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust since 2002.

Qualifications: MA, MB ChB, MRCP, PhD, FRCPath

Professor William Irving has practised as a consultant clinical virologist at the Queenโ€™s Medical Centre, Nottingham, since 1990. He has extensive experience in the field of viral hepatitis and blood-borne viruses.

Dr Nik Mahida

Title: Consultant Microbiologist and Infection Control Doctor at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Nik Mahida has practised as a consultant microbiologist and infection control doctor at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust since 2017. Nik works as a full time medical microbiologist at Nottingham. He has an interest in complex infections, particularly in immunosuppressed groups and provides specialist infection management advice to the Nottingham tertiary Haematology bone marrow transplant centre.
